It's been a long time since I have headed out before daylight with the goal in mind to capture the beginning of a new day and just let it sink into my soul. I left my house with the stars clearly visible, but it didn't take long for heavy clouds to move in and cover up the twinkling sky. As I neared my destination it began to sprinkle. My destination this particular day was to be at the mouth of the Platte River in Beulah, where it meets up with Lake Michigan.
As I pulled into the parking lot and it began to downpour. I knew that the forecast was to be sunny for the better part of the day so I decided to sit and wait it out. I didn't have to wait long, 25 minutes later I could see some breaking up of the cloud cover. I got out of my car, collected my gear and began to walk down the beach toward the inlet to Lake Michigan. As I sat there with my camera, I took in the sounds of the gulls interacting with each other, the birds chirping and the waves that were silently lapping onto the beach. I was in my element.
This is what I wanted and what my soul craved. This peaceful beautiful scene that unfolded before me. I am sharing it with you.
God Bless,
Helen
